Community Involvement:  I have an active pro bono legal practice at DLA Piper. Currently, I'm representing a Somali man, Farhan Warfaa, in a lawsuit against a former Colonel of Somalia’s Barre regime. Farhan, who still lives in Somaliland, alleges that in the late 1980s, the Colonel tortured Farhan and then shot him five times at point blank range, all simply on the basis of Farhan’s ethnicity. In the 1990s, the Colonel moved to the United States and settled in Virginia. This civil lawsuit against the Colonel is our attempt to obatin justice for Farhan and others against whom the Colonel committed human rights abuses.

Separately, I am one of only several associate members of DLA Piper's Firm-wide Pro Bono Committee. Planning and managing our firm's pro bono activities across our more than 18 offices in the North America, service on this committee has allowed me to have more input on the help that our lawyers provide to those who desperately need it.

Locally, I am a member of the Leesburg Daybreak Rotary Club. The Club gives back to our community here in Leesburg and Loudoun in real and tangible ways. Through our fundraising efforts, we're able to provide scholarships to local students and grants to local organizations. And through our sweat equity, we built a new walking and nature trail for the committee at Morven Park, and make hundreds of lunches once a month for the homeless in conjunction ...
Proudest Accomplishment:  I’ve had quite a bit of success as a lawyer to this point. But, while it may seem like such a small thing, my proudest professional accomplishment came when I was just a summer associate at DLA Piper. I was given a pro bono assignment to help Matilda, a Louisiana resident whose home was damaged by a national contractor during the clean-up after Hurricane Katrina. Matilda’s daughter had lost her apartment and FEMA had tasked the contractor with installing a trailer for the daughter on the woman’s property. The contractor performed some seriously faulty work connecting the trailer to the home’s plumbing, which ended up costing Matilda about $2000 to fix. That was a lot of money for Matilda and her family.

Matilda tried to get the contractor to reimburse her for her costs but hit dead-end after dead-end. I was put on the case. After several months of cajoling that turned in to threats of a lawsuit, the contractor finally agreed to cut Matilda a check. I called Matilda to tell her the good news. She was appreciative, but cautious. She thanked me, and then asked how much she owed me for my fee. When I told her that I had done the work for free, that I represented her pro bono, I can still remember he almost immediate burst of laughter that quickly turned to tears. I could practice law for the next fifty ...
Additional Information:  It would be a true honor to be selected. Thank you for considering me.

Community Involvement:  For the past nine years I have volunteered as a coach for Springfield Challenger Little League Baseball. I have coached for the "little" division, working with children who range from age 4 to age 12. All children have varying disabilities and the league provides an opportunity for these children to play baseball as well as make connections and socialization with peers.
In addition, each year I raise money for and participate in the Buddy Walk as a member of Team Sweet Pea, in honor of a former student and family I worked with at Dominion Trail.
In the role as principal I am actively involved in my school community, supporting events for our families and ensuring that even through difficult times our community rallies for each other. This year in particular we have had two students diagnosed with cancer and we had two fathers who passed away. I work closely with our staff and our parents to support our students and their families, ensuring the emotional health of our students as well as raising money for the financial needs of the families.
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment was becoming an elementary school principal. I am honored to be responsible for ensuring the success and safety of the students in my school. Each day, being able to go to work, and see the huge impact the staff and I are having on the future is an incredible feeling and honor. Despite the challenges presented at times, it is essential to ensure all actions we do are in the best interest of the children. Each day I am responsible for setting the stage for success for over 830 students as well as 90 staff members. The ability to make a connection with all of these individuals and the honor that comes with each person's success is an incredible feeling. I am amazed that day in and day out the staff and students continue to grow and reach new accomplishments of their own. Being able to see their accomplishments is the proudest accomplishment I could ever wish for.

Work Experience:  I have been involved in employee health and wellness for the past six years. I started off working for the Employee Wellness Coordinator of a 5,000 person hospital while I was finishing up my BS in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina. Always being passionate about health and wellness, I was shocked to see how unhealthy the employee population at this hospital was – and how it was not only affecting the way they did their jobs, but also impacting their overall quality of life! Here, I provided education for the employees on healthy behavior change, coordinated the health screening program, and assisted in the onsite fitness center. After a great year at the hospital, I moved onto coordinating the employee wellness program for 12,000 employees at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina that were spread across 23 different states. While working here, I simultaneously got my Master of Public Health in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior and my Minor in Health Communication. At BlueCross, I helped the company go smoke-free, created health education programs, coordinated health seminars and fairs, incorporated healthy choices into the cafeterias, ran the health screening and flu shot programs, and assisted in the onsite fitness centers. I had a heavy hand in determining the success of these programs for individual employees and the return on investment they were capable of producing for the company. I currently the Wellness Manager for Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center, where I oversee the employee wellness program by ...
Community Involvement:  Being new to the area in 2014, my involvement with the Loudoun County Community has been tremendously rewarding. I am a member of the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professional Committee and the Health and Wellness Business Initiative Committee, as well as a frequent Chamber event and mixer attendee. I regularly promote and support other organizations in Loudoun County – among them, Nova Medical Group is a CSA pickup site for Great Country Farms, and I helped form employee teams to participate in the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation 5K event, Tigerlily Foundation 5K event for Breast Cancer, and the Chamber’s SuperHero 5K event for Mobile Hope.

I believe that giving back and supporting those in our community is so important for both business and personal development.
Proudest Accomplishment:  My job is less about “accomplishing” and more about “inspiring.” Every day, I am faced with the opportunity to motivate and inspire a new employee to make strides towards their health and wellness goals. Healthy behavior change takes time but seeing the progress that the people who I work with are making each day is extremely rewarding. Nothing makes me prouder than when an employee who used to make unhealthy choices gets excited about going to the gym, eating a healthy lunch, or being able to come off blood pressure or cholesterol medication. Just through interacting with the employees I have worked with and seeing what they have been able to accomplish makes me proud on a daily basis.
Additional Information:  Since I have been a part of our employee wellness program, here is what has changed with the Nova Medical Group employee population’s health:
• 11% decrease in overweight/obese employees
• 6% decrease in those with diabetes/pre-diabetes
• 13% decrease in the number of employees who don’t know their blood pressure
• 14% decrease in the number of employees who don’t know their cholesterol
• 5% improvement in fruit/vegetable intake
• 5% decrease in the number of sedentary employees
• 25% decrease in the number of employees with no exercise program
• 1% decrease in tobacco users
• 5% decrease in the number of stressed employees

We also found that company turnover amongst employees who were enrolled in the wellness program was 29% lower than company turnover.

Wellness is working! And I try to educate Nova Medical Group’s employees and anyone else that will listen about the importance of being healthy and the impact it can have on every aspect of one’s life!

In 2014, Nova Medical Group was ranked Washington Business Journal’s #2 Healthiest Employer, was a finalist for the Innovate VA Game-Changer Award, and was a Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce Healthy Business Challenge winner.

Work Experience:  See attached resume.
Community Involvement:  I have worked in Loudoun County for the past seven years, and lived here
for the last four years. In that time I have become enveloped in the
community through volunteering and getting involved in my school
community. I have volunteered with the Special Olympics, helping
elementary aged children through adults learn how to bowl. These type of
fun and casual activities, I hope, makes a lasting impression.

I am currently on the membership committee for the Ashburn Rotary Club,
where we work on membership retention and new member interest. Ashburn
Rotary Club has several projects each year that benefit the community to
include children¹s back pack program, children’s winter jacket program
and helping sponsor local high kids and their college education. I
roughly contribute around 120 hours a year to this great organization.
I have spoken several times in the greater DC metro area to adults and
students about my experiences being sexually abused as a child. I believe
through sharing my experiences in an open and honest manner it will help
prevent these crimes from happening to future children. This is perhaps
the largest way I have contributed to Loudoun County. I do this on an as
need basis where it works out to anywhere between 20-80 hours a year.

I was recently was appointed the Interim Choir Director for Crossroads
United Methodist Church in Ashburn where each week (1 hour) we practice
for various performances at the weekly services. To date, I have put on ...
Proudest Accomplishment:  When I was a young girl, from about the ages of 5-7, I was sexually
abused in my very small hometown in Pennsylvania. For several years, I
ignored my feelings and kept my silence. The mental and physical pain
was a lot for me to handle as a child, but I knew that my abuser was an
adult, and I was a child ¬ therefore he should know better. When I turned
18, I had a breakdown and saw a therapist for several years. Anger had
taken a hold of my life in an extremely negative way. I felt like I could
not control my emotions, and they were getting the best of me in my daily
life. I was having a hard time building relationships due to lack of
trust. Through therapy and a lot of hard work, I was able to overcome
this by talking openly about my experiences. Currently I am an active
member of the RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest Neglect Network) Speakers
Bureau, where I am contacted to speak to the public about my experiences.
I have been interviewed for newspapers, and will be featured in a music
video with other survivors this summer.
I encourage parents, adults and teachers to talk openly and educate their
children and students about personal space and touch. I am extremely
proud of my ability to overcome this chapter of my life in a positive way
and move forward- and believe I am ...

Community Involvement:  My wife and I have both lived in Loudoun County our entire lives. We spend many other evenings attending school events either at Waterford or Loudoun Valley - where my wife teaches.
Proudest Accomplishment:  One of my proudest moments was being selected to serve as a principal in the school district where I have spent so much of my life. Birthdate:  11/11/1983
Public Name:  Browning
Time Lived and/or Worked in Loudoun:  6 Years

Work Experience:  I have been involved in banking and finance for 9 years now since my graduation from Elon University in 2006. While I started with Middleburg Bank six years ago, I began my career in the mortgage industry. I managed a $100,000,000 mortgage portfolio in a mega branch for HSBC where I was responsible for all of the HR, audit, sales, and training functions. As the mortgage industry collapsed I knew I wanted to work for a smaller community focused bank. I started with Middleburg in February 2009 doing both credit analysis and loan workout. After three years I was ready to be a commercial lender but unfortunately there were no openings at Middleburg, so I left to be a lender at MainStreet Bank which is an excellent community bank based out of Fairfax. I cut my teeth in commercial lending, grew my portolio, and 12 months later Middleburg came calling as a lending position opened. I have been with Middleburg Bank 3 years and have loved it. I work with all varieties of businesses in Loudoun County and Northern Virginia to help them meet their goals. In doing that I have had several work accomplishments that I am extremely proud of. In 2014 we started an award for the lender that has the best performance in any quarter. I have won the award three out of the five times it has been awarded, including Q1 2015. I was recently awarded the President's Award for best overall performance at the bank ...
Community Involvement:  Being in my position as Commercial Relationship Manager is very active and extremely fulfilling. A large part of that fulfillment comes from my community service work. My most prominent position is Treasurer of Seven Loaves, a local food pantry in Middleburg, VA. I also serve as an Executive Committee member and Board Member as part of my Treasurer Duties. Last year we gave out 300,000 pounds of food, expanding the families we provided food for, hired a full time pantry manager (for the first time ever), and managed to expand our fundraising efforts to have the largest contribution level in history.

I graduated from the Virginia Bankers Association School of Management in 2012. It was there I began to understand the importance of working in tandem with other community banks for two primary reasons: information sharing and government advocacy. In my work with the Virginia Bankers Association, I have become Chair of the Leadership Division of Virginia, which consists of 6 regions. As Chair, I am responsible for working with VBA staff and region chairs in coordinating networking activities and organizing government relations events. I am an active participate in Bank Day, and educational programs for teachers who teach elective financial literacy courses in High School. As a result of my involvement with the VBA, I recently received one of two Excellence in Advocacy awards given by the American Bankers Association at the ABA Government Summit in DC this March.

I believe in working collectively with ...
Proudest Accomplishment:  Unfortunately I do not have one achievement I consider to be my crowning achievement. The activities I am involved in, personally and professionally, are what gives me the greatest satisfaction. I am goal driven, and I am blessed to have accomplished all the goals I established for myself when I graudated college. The awards and accolades that come with my activities are wonderful, and give me great intrinsic satisfaction, but there are many things still to be accomplished. As I work to my goals in the future I am lucky to have a wonderful wife and family by my side. My grandfather always said remember who you are and what you represent. Sticking to that saying as I go through my daily challenges and endeavors would be my greatest accomplishment.

Community Involvement:  I have lived in downtown Leesburg my whole life except for a small time when we lived out on Lime Kiln across from Oatlands. My mom raised us by herself and owned and operated Leesburg Office Supply. We would help her do many things in the community while growing up to help her business. So, technically I have been involved in this community for a long time... Specifically, I have been a member of the Leesburg Daybreak Rotary Club since graduating from JMU in 2000 and have participated and headed up many projects through this club. Giving High School scholarships, spending time and helping out at Meadow Glen, Heritage Hall, and Morningside House. Community clean up projects, liaison to Loudoun County High Schools FBLA and Interact clubs, etc. The most important community activity I participate in is coaching youth sports... I have been doing this now for several years before my children came along and now am coaching my son in Little League, Loudoun Soccer, and Upward Basketball. Coaches have the opportunity to impact more children for the positive than anyone... Having grown up in this community without a Father in the picture, I understand very well how important this is...
Proudest Accomplishment:  I have many proud moments... Birth of my children, different sporting accomplishments, raising a family in a positive environment, etc but when it comes to Proudest accomplishments, I'd like to think most of those are still in front of me. If I had to pick one now regarding my profession, I would say I am proud to have the privilege to come back from college and start a business in my home town where I can make a significant impact helping friends and their families take care of important planning needs. I am very proud to have many relationship with clients and friends that I have known since I was a kid. I have some of the same clients my mom had when she had her business in Leesburg. I am also proud of that too...
Additional Information:  I just want to thank you for the opportunity to potentially be one of the 40. Having been here my whole life, it would be a great privilege to be included.

Work Experience:  When I was in high school, my father made me come work at his recycling center in the summer opening up bags of aluminum cans and stacking auto batteries. I went to college to make sure I didn't end up working in the recycling center after school.

During college, I realized I had a great opportunity to help grow my father's metal recycling business that had great potential. I knew that through economic downturns and upturns metal recycling would always be there. When my father offered me a job after college, I decided to give it a try and never looked back.

When I started with Potomac Metals Incorporated full-time after college in 2010 we had one location head-quartered in Sterling, Virginia. In the past five years we have grown into one of the Washington D.C. Metropolitan's leaders in scrap metal recycling and also started an electronics recycling division. We now have eight locations sprawled across Northern Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia. In October we plan to open our second location in Loudoun County, which will be our companies ninth location.

At Potomac Metals, I help oversee our day-to-day operations and am the company's metal trader. As the metal trader, I sell our inventory to mills and refiners all over world.

My company also does a service for county residents by buying back their scrap metal. By recycling their scrap metal, we help keep Loudoun green and we help the economy of the county.
Community Involvement:  I have volunteered as a coach for flag football and soccer through I9 Sports. It was great to help teach children 4-7 the sports I loved to play growing up. It was also amazing to see how much the young children can learn and grow in 8 weeks.

Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishments include the births of my two sons Max (4) and Casen (2) and my daughter Quinn (7 months). I also have been very fortunate to marry my high school sweet-heart Brittney Zwilsky.
Additional Information:  During my four years at McDaniel College not only did I earn my B.A. in Buisness and Economics, I also played football for four years on the Green Terror Football Team. I was a two year captain while playing on the football team.

I was nominated and a finalist for Best Coach in Posh 7 Magazine's “Best of Suburbia Issue” 2014. I was nominated for Best Coach in “Best of Loudoun” contest 2015.

Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment would have to be waking up every day and making a difference in my athlete’s lives. Cheerleading is a very hard industry to be in because of the prodigious aspects that follow behind it. I look past those stereotypes every day when I wake up.
I coach young women and men to be excellent in life and in sports, how to becoming leaders in life, school, and their community, and how to feel empowered when they step foot in my gym. Our gym motto is "It takes MORE to be the BEST" and I truly exude that every day so the kids can view me as their role model and apply what I am coaching to their own lives.
Recently, we began a Performance Team program that I am director of and that program started off with only 5 girls last year, this year we had 20! The Program is low cost and offers athletes to opportunity to expand their skills, leadership, and knowledge of the sport of cheerleading. They joined because they believed in me and my coaching, that is something that I cherish and use for fuel when I step out into our community every day.
I work so hard to make sure my students at Heritage and my gym feel empowered and loved, making sure they know what attributes make them important and special to our world and community. I love being from Leesburg and owning a gym that can serve ...

Our tour allows us to get to know people in a short amount of time leaving them with an experience that they will continue to share far beyond their stay in Loudoun.
Proudest Accomplishment:  I consider myself to be a lucky man, I have a support team that helps me strive to do better every day. I was fortunate enough to find my true love early in life and over nearly a decade we have had three beautiful daughters. It is this team that I am most proud of and why I have been able to accomplish more than I ever thought imaginable. Other than my young and growing family my proudest accomplishment was during my final year of my masters program. I was juggling a full-time job, full-time school, full-time family, and training for a 50K ultra marathon. I learned how to balance time, prioritize, and stretch my mind and body to new limits. I cannot describe the joy that I felt as I was able to work toward some of the biggest goals I had ever set, and complete them. To share the excitement of graduation, and the finish line with my wife and daughters is a time that I will never forget. They never gave up on me, and they kept me going through all the tough times and helped me realize how great the good times can be. It is a time of my life I will never forget.

Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest professional moments are related to the direct sucess of my team - theres nothing more rewarding than seeing your teammates excel both personally and professionally. To mentor and coach someone from the bottom up, or through difficuly situations is completly fulfilling and truly an honor.

For me, my proudest accomplishment was completing my Masters Degree in Clinical Nurse Leadership from the University of Virginia as a single mother of a 4 year old little girl with chronic illness. Balancing life, motherhood, school and a sick daughter that required bi-weekly blood transfusions was sometimes overwhelming, but I just put one foot in front of the other and never gave up. When youre determined to do something, you cant let anything get in your way or stop you - you will have barriers but you have to push through.
Additional Information:  Obtained National certification as a Board Certified Nurse Executive and Clinical Nurse Leader.

Community Involvement:  I work with the Make A Wish Mid Atlantic chapter as a volunteer Wish Granter. Make A Wish helps grant the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. I have been privileged to work with several children, including a shopping spree at Tyson's Mall, a trip to Disney, a trip to Paris, and my current child, who has a wish to go to Germany with her family (going in July 2015).

I serve on Cassaday & Company's Board of Trustees for Cassaday & Company's Charitable Fund. Presently, this Fund serves four national charities. In addition to donations, every year we visit So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.) in DC to help prepare meals for the poor and homeless; we also are a major sponsor for Youth For Tomorrow, another of the Funds' charities, and attend the annual Youth For Tomorrow County Fair.
Proudest Accomplishment:  My biggest career accomplishment to date is passing the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam. This was a huge feat considering only 50-60% of people pass each time that the exam is administered. The CFP designation is the highest mark that one can achieve within the Financial Planning profession. It is not this way at most firms, but my boss requires our Financial Planners to obtain the CFP before taking on any clients. So, I knew once I passed that this was a big stepping stone for me, yet my career was just getting started. I passed in 2011 and now manage ~$45,000,000 for ~50 households in the DC Metro area. I try to serve as the center of gravity for all of my clients' personal financial affairs.
Additional Information:  Although I am a fairly new resident to Ashburn (just moved to the One Loudoun development in November of 2014 with my soon to be wife), I have already enjoyed meeting many of my neighbors and I look forward to becoming even more involved within the community in the near future.

Work Experience:  In 2005 I began working at Hair Savvy Salon in Leesburg as the shampoo girl. In 2006 I attended the Aveda Institute in Washington D.C. to study Cosmetology. Near the end of my schooling I was invited back to Hair Savvy as a hairstylist and began my career working for Patti Nolan along side 8 other talented stylists. In April of 2013 I became an independent hairstylist booth renting at Hair Savvy Salon and running my own personal business.
Community Involvement:  As an independent hairstylist I am able to contribute to many different causes, fundraisers, and local businesses by offering and donating services to help and promote each individual matter. In the world of beauty, when you have a client in your chair helping to maintain their appearance you are also maintaining their emotional and personal health. I do believe when a person feels more polished, this contributes to a persons overall well being.
I have been fortunate in my business allowing me to give to well deserving individuals, such as offering monthly haircuts to a retired Vietnam Vet who is now in an assisted living home with little family left. I have also been privileged to work with many woman suffering from different types of illness's by offering my services to promote a sense of normalcy and pampering back into their lives.
Hairdressing is not just a profession for me, but a way to connect with others. Whether it be a lighthearted conversation, or something more darkened, I am always humbled to be able to give something to others. Sometimes all a person needs is a little company and a lending ear.
Proudest Accomplishment:  The world of hairdressing is very challenging in many ways. I stared my career at the age of 18, and it was not an easy road. Men and woman love a trusted and experienced hairdresser, and of course right out of beauty school you have very little experience. For the first few years I had to work very hard, attending many training courses, advanced schooling, and beauty shows to extend my knowledge in the industry. In 2009 I was building a steady clientele and my confidence was growing stronger. With the help of the salon I was given more and more clients. In 2013 when the discussion came up to become an independent hairstylist, I was very uncomfortable with this. I was scared. I was scared to do it alone, but looking back on all I had done I knew that this was what I needed. If you never jump out of your comfort zone you are only moving backwards.
I have been working for myself for 2 years and I am proud of where I am, it was not always easy and there were many times in the early stages I wanted to quit. I look back and I know it was all an important part in my journey and all led me to grow into the stylist I am today.

Community Involvement:  While a member of the Loudoun County Sheriffs office, I was active in the community everyday. For my first 5 years I patrolled the Sterling Park area, and encountered all manner of police related situations which directly affected the community. I was also a member of the Search and Rescue team as well as project Life Saver, which is a program where individuals with special needs such as Autism, or Alzheimers would be fitted with tracking bracelets, in case they wandered from their home.

Currently At Pangle and Associates we actively participate in Down town Leesburg's First Friday. We will often have food, drinks, and will support a local Musical Talent by having them perform for everyone who visits during first Friday.
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment would have to be making the decision to leave the Sheriffs office after having been well established into that career. I owned a house, a new car and had graduated from college all by 23. After around 5 years on patrol I had a belief or a "knowing" that there was something more for me in life. I made the decision to quit my job, cash out my retirements, and travel to a place half way around the world, to which I had never been, and put myself through a professional flight school. I attended Mauna Loa Helicopters on the Big Island of Hawaii. After completing my Commercial pilots license I returned home to VA and rejoined the Sheriffs Office for an additional 1.5 years. Still not being completely satisfied, I left again and returned to Hawaii to continue training on my Certified Instructor, and Certified Instrument Instructors Licenses. Living in Hawaii for a short time completely changed my life. The friends I made, the beauty I saw, and experiences I had, I will never forget. I also met my future wife while living in Hawaii, and we are currently married and Living in Loudoun. After completing my additional training I received a job offer from Steve Hutchens with Atlantic Airways out of Leesburg VA, flying helicopters for Joe May. I accepted, and have been flying for Joe, and doing some instruction with Atlantic ...

Community Involvement:  I love to volunteer and give back to the community. I learned at a very young age the importance of helping out others. I love to help out in any opportunity as long as it's positive, inspiring and benefits the greater good of the world. There comes a time in life when you may need help. Always PAY IT FORWARD!
Proudest Accomplishment:  06/19/14 investing in myself by opening my company, Team Make It Happen, in honor of Nicole Megaloudis. I always remember Nicole. There is not a day that goes by that I am not honored to have known her, be surrounded by her positive friends, family and teammates. She forever has graced me with her spirit and mantra of "Make It Happen"!
Additional Information:  01/07/2015 I fell on black ice and almost lost my life again. . . Having a traumatic brain injury while running a business as a Chinese, Italian, American female is no joke. Work Experience:  My first real job was at Leesburg Subway at 15yrs old. I stayed with them throughout High school.

I worked my way through college by doing jobs such as a vet assistant, at Towne Animal Clinic, followed by bartending at Thoroughbreds while getting my Real Estate license. I got my license in the winter of '05 and was "thrown" into Real Estate by taking over my moms entire business while she went into management for Long & Foster.
My first 6 months in Real Estate I had over a million dollars in sales and was awarded rookie of the year at Long & Foster. A few years later we opened Pangle & Associates and I continue to build my own book of business. I was Top Producer in our office in 2013.

Born and raised in Loudoun County my friends growing up are now clients and as a result my business continues to grow and I have the pleasure of working with and helping people I've known most of my life.
Community Involvement:  For many years I worked with rebuilding together otherwise known as Christmas in April; an organization dedicated to keeping local residents who are elderly, low income or disabled, warm, safe, and dry in their homes.

Also currently volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment would be managing a full time Real Estate career and being a full time mom of twins. My mom and I opened Pangle & Associates 3 months after my twins were born and I wasn't sure how I would be able to do both, but with the support of family I had one of my best years in Real Estate my first year as a mom. Having Teague & Delaney gave me a renewed focus and ambition in Real Estate and it continues to drive me to this day. Its not always easy but its always worth it.

Staying at home with 2 toddlers all day makes me appreciate my days at work and being with clients, having real conversations and brings out my inner business woman. My time at work makes me miss my little ones and our time together coloring, playing and anticipating what they will get into next. It's the best of both worlds and I couldn't imagine it any other way.

Time Lived and/or Worked in Loudoun:  Have lived in Loudoun for 28 years and worked in Loudoun for 16 years
Work Experience:  I did not take the path most traveled to get to where I am today. I attended a small college in Florida, but after 3 semesters I realized that my major didn't align with what I was truly passionate about. I was more of a hands-on guy who thrived when I was using my hands so I could be creative, while learning new skills.

In 2003, at 18 years old, I started working for Home Depot in the lawn/garden department. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed the environment, and it confirmed my love for working with my hands. My hard work paid off, and a year later, I was promoted to department head/key-holder. This position came with several new responsibilities, which I happily took on. After several months I found myself wanting new challenges. I wanted to be more creative and knew that Home Depot was not going to fill that void.

For the next two years I kept searching for the right job that I could make into a career. My family has been running small lawn maintenance businesses in Loudoun since 1988. For 15 years I worked on and off with my family. I discovered this was something I was passionate about. I was excited at the thought that this could be my opportunity to be more creative.

In 2005 I made the decision to stop searching for the right job; my father and I purchased LawnBoy Lawn Services. For the first several ...
Community Involvement:  As a member of Loudoun Baptist Temple I have been able to give back to my church. LawnBoy is in charge of all grounds maintenance and beautification projects.

For the past 3 years LawnBoy has participated in the Leesburg 4th of July parade. This is such a fun event where my family and staff and family always look forward to creating a float that will excite Leesburg residents.

LawnBoy is also involved with the Wounded Warrior Project, The El Foundation, Sadie Smiles Charity, Habitat for Humanity, and several Loudoun youth sports programs.

Being involved in the community is important to us. LawnBoy desires to support and give back to a community that has given us so much.
Proudest Accomplishment:  I would have to say, by far, my proudest accomplishment is the various accolades LawnBoy has received.

In 2014 LawnBoy received The Best of Loudoun- Mowing/Landscaping Company Award. It's hard to put into words how I felt after receiving the phone call notifying me of our company's success. I was humbled that Loudoun's readers voted our company #1 when there are so many great landscape companies throughout Loudoun.

In April 2015, for the second year in a row, we were able to achieve this award. LawnBoy has truly been blessed to have such great customers who consider us one of the best companies Loudoun has to offer.

In 2014 and 2015 LawnBoy was awarded the Angie's List Super Service Award for outstanding customer service and reviews. This award is very important to me because we strive to provide the highest quality of service everyday. This award is a direct reflection of my determination to uphold a positive reputation throughout the community.

In 2011 I was named one of The Loudoun Business Journal's 30 Under 30 Young Professionals in Loudoun County.

Winning these awards has helped LawnBoy grow tremendously. Ours sales skyrocketed 42% from 2013 to 2014 as a direct result of these awards. These awards prove to me that our business model is working, and that the time and energy spent focusing on quality and customer service have not gone unnoticed.
Additional Information:  I would like to say thank you to the entire committee for considering me for this award. It is humbling to know that hard work, never taking the easy road, and the good work ethic my parents instilled in me so many successes in life.

I'll leave you with one last thought: It never pays to cut corners, but it pays to cut grass!

Community Involvement:  Working as a property manager for my entire career, I have managed homeowners associations throughout the county, ranging from large communities like River Creek, Potomac Green, Loudoun Valley Estates, and Broadlands to upscale projects like Raspberry Falls, Estates at Cedar Crest, and Red Cedar Estates, had the diversity to work with rural groups in Lucketts, Lovettsville, and Round Hill, as well as smaller townhome and condominium communities throughout the area. I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to work closely with the homeowners and home builders in the area, as well as dealt with a variety of contractors and county officials as part of this work.
Being a horse owner, I sat on the Board of Directors of a local equestrian organization, Commonwealth Dressage and Combined Training Association (CDCTA) for 7 years, volunteering my time to improve and support the sport of eventing. I am also actively involved in my industry trade organization, having been an avid volunteer since 2004 and have sat on the Board of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of Community Association Institute (WMCCAI) for the past four years. I am currently the Secretary of that Board and sit on four chapter committees.
Proudest Accomplishment:  I am one of the youngest property managers in the nation responsible for managing a large scale community such as Broadlands. Community Association Institute defines a large scale community as one that is a minimum of 1,000 units or 1,000 acres, having an on site, full time manager, and a minimum annual operating budget of two million dollars. I was recruited to the General Manager position of Broadlands three years ago, and am entrusted with overseeing 20 million in HOA assets, as well as upholding the property values for around two billion dollars in real estate. I have turned around the staff morale, improved and reinvented community events, reinvested in the forgotten grounds, and taken on deferred maintenance in the buildings and infrastructure in the community. The community pride has been rekindled since I have brought in decorating contests, community festivals, and engaging programs. I've worked to brand Broadlands and make it the best community in the county, promoting a healthy balance of work, education, recreation, and relaxation.
Additional Information:  I spent much of my youth in Loudoun participating in equestrian events and was excited to move to Leesburg in 2004 to live and work here. I've watched it grow in numbers and diversity, but hope it retains some of its historic country farm. I built a home in country in order to enjoy what country life has to offer. I enjoy the local wineries and farms, always trying to support the local businesses. Being able to live and work in such an affluent and educated part of the country, it's been my privilege to call this county home.

Work Experience:  I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2008 with a Doctorate of Chiropractic, and am nationally certified in chiropractic rehabilitation and physical therapy. While in school I worked at an outpatient clinic, and was able to get a great deal of experience. I then joined my father's practice in downtown Leesburg, which he started in 1978. It has been a fantastic opportunity to join with him in continuing to help all of the patients that come to see us.
Community Involvement:  I have been involved in the local Young Life organization since High School. When I moved back to the area after school, I became a volunteer leader for 5 years, and continue to be a contributor. I am an active board member of my HOA in downtown Leesburg, as well as a member of the Virginia Chiropractic Association(VCA). We contribute to the Salvation Army and Interfaith relief as well as our church, Cornerstone Chapel.
Proudest Accomplishment:  I feel a great deal of accomplishment when I am able to help people overcome their ailments each day. Being able to change someone's life for the better is the reason I got into Chiropractic, and I feel very fortunate that I can do this for a living. I grew up in Loudoun, and it feels great to be back here working with the community, and growing my own family in the county that I love.

Proudest Accomplishment:  My son, Max, would be my proudest accomplishment! I am a single mother of an amazing (and happy) 10 year old, rising 5th grade student at Middleburg Community Charter School. Following Max, would be my work at Middleburg Community Charter School. The effort to save a community school from closure was a daunting task that most would have considered unattainable to a small group of devoted parents and community members. I am very proud to work alongside some of the most influential people I have ever met in Loudoun County and in my life...the Board of Directors of Middleburg Community Charter School. This group saw something in me that they wanted to be the first impression of their school, the person in the front office, the one who handles the daily running of the school. I was asked to share the front office responsibilities and the school clinic with one of my best friends, Susan McGroddy. Having managed real estate deals for 15 years, I thought, how hard could it be to manage a school office, students and parents? Well, those were famous last words! The charter was approved in February of 2014 and on August 4, 2014, just 6 months later, we opened the doors as the first public charter school in Loudoun County! There was a lot of behind the scenes activity and hours of planning, hiring, admissions, and most of all learning of how to manage our ...
Additional Information:  Working for Middleburg Community Charter School is a passion, not just a job. It was a group of dedicated parents and community members that took an ideal school concept, wrote an application and then took it through the state of Virginia and then through the LCPS School Board to save the future of a small community centered school that is not only an amazing learning environment for our children, but it is a piece of our history. By our, I mean Loudoun County's history. In 2011, Middleburg Elementary School celebrated its Centennial - 100 years as a public school in Loudoun County! And, to close the school would have closed a chapter in our counties' rich history. In 2014, we opened the doors as Middleburg Community Charter School - the first public charter school in Loudoun County and only the 2nd public elementary charter school in the State of Virginia. To see our halls bustling with HAPPY children and see them thriving in a multi-age, project based learning environment, makes me smile every day - all day! Being in the front office, people often comment on how happy and cheerful I am every day, and it is because of our thriving piece of history and the students who make me truly enjoy my job. My smile comes from the inside! It is so deeply gratifying to see the charter in action and see it come together for our children...

Community Involvement:  My contribution to the community is heavily influenced by my parents and my family legacy of charitable work throughout Loudoun County, including my grandmother who was honored as the Loudoun Times Mirror “Citizen of the Year” in 1988 for her service of over 5000 hours volunteering as a Pink Lady at Loudoun Hospital. Since a young age, my family has had an active role with the Boy Scouts of America, which taught me the importance of community as I advanced through ranks to earn my Eagle Scout award in 1995. My Mother has always been a strong member of her faith which has influenced me as a supporter/member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. I support numerous charities including the National Kidney Foundation, National MS Society, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and Susan G. Komen in honor of family and friends through the community. I feel strongly about supporting small businesses in Loudoun County and I love supporting the abundance of locally owned startups with retail and restaurants throughout the County. My family and I also enjoy the abundance of festivals and family owned family friendly farms, vineyards and breweries.
Proudest Accomplishment:  I value family and have focused my time and energy accordingly. I have a beautiful wife, Linnea and two precious little girls, Tyla (4) and Kyndi (2). Having two happy and energetic girls 20 months apart keeps my life full of excitement. Seeing them happy and smiling brings an amazing sense of joy to me. In addition to my immediate family, I play a patriarchal role in my extended family. A couple years ago I had the opportunity to care for my father as he prepared to “go in the sky” as my 4 year old says. That experience was character building and really taught me the meaning of unconditional love. As the patriarch I have the opportunity/responsibility of maintaining the family property in Purcellville to keep the Simpson homestead of over 160 years in the family. We really enjoy spending time in Western Loudoun County, it’s just gorgeous and I am fortunate to be able to enjoy and be a part of both the Eastern and Western Loudoun County communities. I am in the process of remodeling the family house with my brother, Nicholas, from studs to painted walls. I also take advantage of being able to financially support my church and numerous charities.
Other accomplishments that I have under my belt are earning my Eagle Scout by overseeing the creation of 300 rosaries for the Marine recruits at Parris Island, SC., graduating from the best University in Virginia ...
Additional Information:  I was born and raised in Leesburg along with my 3 brothers but my family roots in Loudoun County date back at least 5 generations to the 1800’s. In 2003 after graduating from George Mason University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Management I moved to Ashburn and have lived there since.

Time Lived and/or Worked in Loudoun:  10 years
Work Experience:  I began my career in domestic and sexual violence work at 21 years old when I was hired to work night shifts at the LAWS Shelter while going to graduate school to earn my Masters in Social Work. Once I graduated, LAWS hired me to run their Youth & Children’s Services program and for six years I provided counseling services and advocacy to children and families who had experienced domestic violence and sexual assault. The challenges of working with families in crisis every day taught me so much about resilience and perseverance, and I’m forever grateful for that experience. In May 2012, I was hired by the LAWS Board of Directors as the agency’s Executive Director at age 29. Being an Executive Director of a nonprofit organization has been a life changing experience that has pushed me to grow as a person and a professional in ways I never imagined. Every day I feel humbled and privileged to lead a strong organization with a mission that I care deeply about.
Community Involvement:  In my 10 years working for and leading a nonprofit organization in Loudoun, I’ve had many great opportunities to be involved in initiatives that strive to make Loudoun County a better place. I’ve had the opportunity to serve on the Loudoun Domestic Violence Steering Committee, the Loudoun Domestic and Sexual Violence Coordinating Council, the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center Advisory Board and Multidisciplinary Team, the Loudoun Human Services Network, the Loudoun Domestic Abuse Response Team’s Child Protection Subcommittee, and the Loudoun Best Practice Court Team, just to name a few. One thing I love about my job as LAWS Executive Director is the opportunity to meet so many members of the community who support our mission, and our community’s support is tremendous.

Proudest Accomplishment:  I have a lot to proud of—successfully running a great organization at 32 years old while also raising a family, or LAWS being recognized as Nonprofit of the Year by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce in 2013. But honestly my proudest accomplishments are the moments when a survivor we helped sends us a message that they’re now doing well and they want to know how they can help someone else who is struggling, or child we helped stops by the office years later to say hi and to show us they’re now doing great. I’m really proud to lead an awesome team of talented and passionate staff and volunteers who believe that everybody in our community deserves to be safe.

Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment was making the decision to move my family across the country to realize my dream of starting my own business, in a new and nearly untapped industry. My wife and I were living in Colorado a few years ago when I decided to exit from the banking industry and start a secure storage company. I recognized an opportunity in the Greater Washington, DC area to address a unique niche in the storage industry by opening a facility that specializes in safe deposit box storage for documents and valuables. Despite advances in technology, our society will continue to recognize the value in securely storing valuables, items, documents and personal possessions that cannot be copied or replaced. Based on community and market growth, and the successes I have seen in only the first six months of operation, Loudoun County has proven to be an excellent choice for my company's first location. I could not be happier with the decision I've made to take this risk and form my business.
Additional Information:  I am thrilled to be a Honoree! Thank you for considering my application.

Their organization does critical lifesaving work in our community and I’m happy to have the opportunity to utilize my financial expertise to help further their mission.
Proudest Accomplishment:  Many of the clients I work with are literally in the process of seeing their most important life’s goals come to fruition in that moment. For some that means selling their business and receiving their long awaited payday; for others it is the day they retire; and for some it’s sending their child to college. Sometimes I take a step back and think about the magnitude of the moment my clients are experiencing and I’m honored to be a part of it. Being trusted by them to be a part of that process is certainly something that I’m very proud of.

Time Lived and/or Worked in Loudoun:  4 years

Work Experience:  The mechanical contracting industry has been my career of choice for more than 10 years. I started working in the summers for my family’s business when I was only 15. As soon as I graduated from high school, I began working full time. I progressed from “helper” to installation foreman, where we did new construction, duct work, ventilation and HVAC system installations. As a foreman I eventually managed up to six men a day.
In 2011, I moved to Northern VA with my wife. My first interview upon arriving in this market was with Modern Mechanical, just as the company was being formed in the owner’s garage. I was hired as an installer and within weeks proved myself and quickly became a crew leader. After less than two years, I transitioned from a field worker to an install management position. While in this position I organized jobs, managed multiple installation crews, created company installation procedures, truck stock lists and tracking systems, was responsible for ordering materials and equipment, scheduled all service and installation with customers, and created new employee welcome packages.
In November of 2014 I was promoted to Senior Business Development Manager. With this new position I am responsible for the company’s networking, public events, all new business development, residential and commercial sales.
I could not be more proud of the success I have experienced in such a short time. I feel so proud to be associated with Modern Mechanical and to have risen to the ...
Community Involvement:  My charitable involvement has included organizations such as Free the Girls, Habitat for Humanity, Northern VA Diaper Banks, Freezin’ for a Reason (Camp Sunshine), and Adopt a Highway.
? Supported Ashburn Rotary Club’s Free the Girls event for 2014-2015.
? While volunteering with Habitat for Humanity I helped build 4 homes for the under privileged in Virginia.
? At the Northern Virginia Diaper Bank I volunteered to drop off and pick up all diapers collected for the diaper drive. In that short time, we collected well over 1,000 diapers for the diaper banks in the Loudoun region.
? I captained a team to jump in a lake in the middle of winter and was able to raise over $1,000 for the Reston Annual Freezin’ for a Reason event. The money raised goes to Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life threatening illnesses and their families.
? I am the Project Manager for Modern Mechanical’s Adopt a Highway routes in Ashburn and have been responsible for the company’s involvement with this program for the past 2 years.
? I am the proud manager of Modern Mechanical’s participation in Loudoun Earth Day
? I created and established Modern Mechanical’s metal recycling program which helped lead to our Platinum Certified Green Business status in the County.
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment is the fact that I was able to start at the very bottom in the Heating and Air Conditioning Industry as a young man and rise to the title I hold today of Senior Business Development Manager. It feels really good to know that my involvement from the earliest days of our formation has helped us to grow to the ranks we hold today of Small Business of the Year in Loudoun County. I am proud of my position and excited about what the future holds for me with my amazing team at Modern Mechanical. As a leader in the Senior Management of Modern Mechanical, I am proud to be able to help steer the company forward with a strong focus on excellent customer service and above average community involvement.
Additional Information:  I am an Active member of both the Loudoun County and Reston Chamber of Commerce and volunteer for many events as part of the Modern Mechanical team throughout the year.
Attend Reston a Loudoun Lead share groups
In 2011, I moved to Northern Virginia with my wife Callee with the goal of starting new careers in this thriving and growing County. As Young Professionals in Northern Virginia, the move has proven to be amazing for us both. Living in Northing Virginia over the past several years has proven to be the best move possible. I have been an integral team member at Modern Mechanical and am so very proud to have helped us to be the award winning company we are today. We are looking forward to buying a home in Purcellville and expanding our family in the very near future.
In my free time, I enjoy any chance I can find to relive my childhood passions of deep-sea fishing, snowboarding, football, and hiking.

Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment came a few years ago when I opened my second practice in Brambleton. My wife and I, and our two kids (and two dogs and a cat) had just moved to Brambleton from Reston, VA. Our family was growing and our first dental practice in Great Falls, VA was doing great. We made the decision to not only move to Loudoun County but to start a pediatric dentist practice here as well. The accomplishment was not just about having two successful practices, growing my staff, or hearing praise from our patients that we make going to the dentist fun, it was so much more than that. At the same time that practice opened, my wife Virginia and I had our third child. It was during that time of adjustment (career and family) that I learned the crucial lesson of striking a strong, committed, work-life balance. A lot of times with your career, you are your work-self during the day, your focus shifts more to family when you are at home. But we’d opened a practice in the community where we live and days were not just about being a dentist anymore. Our neighbors became patients, my kid’s friends came to the practice, and even kids I coach in little league started coming in. There is something incredible that happens when you work and live in the same community, you get to be ‘you’ all day long. Patients come in and ask ...

Proudest Accomplishment:  I am most proud of being resilient to get out of the inner city (East side) Buffalo. I was raised surrounded by gang members and in the drug infested inner city. I was raised by a single Mom who raised me to be stronger in my goals to change the trajectory of my life. I have always given back to youth, not forgetting where I came from and the struggles I had. I mentor youth daily. Proudly, I changed the trajectory of my cousin's life by bringing him to Northern VA, mentoring him and he now is a Division 1 Student Athlete at JMU.
Additional Information:  I may be a law enforcement officer but my goal is to make Loudoun a better place through my community involvement. I build relationships between students and families that make our schools and community stronger. Students often seek me out when they need to talk to an adult when they feel they cannot talk to anyone else. Teaching GREAT, DUI classes, running the Jr. Police Camp, coaching football, participating "shop with the cops", and being a mentor for students makes Leesburg and Loudoun a better place. I would like to continue with more community involvement in the future.

Community Involvement:  As a Business and Commercial Banker, I used my expertise in banking to help teenagers in Loudoun County and Leesburg High Schools achieve financial literacy through a program called "Reality Store". I met one on one with students whose financial knowledge spanned a very wide spectrum. Through this amazing program, I spoke at length with students about basic concepts such as how to create and stay within a budget, to more complex topics like the importance of building a strong credit background early on so that they are equipped with buying power. Fiduciary responsibility has always been extremely important to me and my community service has allowed me to share this knowledge with others. With more and more young adults starting out their careers with extensive student debt and limited financial knowledge, it is my hope that programs like the “Reality Store” expand to other high schools across the country. Another way I acted in a leadership role and contributed to the community was as a member and Secretary of the Rotary Club of Leesburg for 3 years. This prestigious club, which is very near and dear to my heart, afforded me the opportunity to collaborate with very accomplished individuals in different lines of work. From preparing food for the homeless with a retired four star General in the Army to raising thousands of dollars for a women’s shelter for victims of domestic violence and abuse, my connection to the Leesburg community ...
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment was working full time while going to school full time so that I didn’t have any student loans. I earned a competitive scholarship from the first bank I worked at which went towards part of my tuition. Between working approximately 50 hours per week and then studying and going to classes in the evenings, I was able to finish college in 4.5 years and debt-free. It was challenging to balance work, school, and my personal life, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Through dedication, hard work, and perseverance, I have gone from a teller, to a Branch Manager of a retail bank, to now a Vice President of Commercial Banking. Working diligently in the banking industry since I was 16 years old, I have been blessed to build a strong network of professionals in the industry who have mentored me and who I have mentored to grow in their careers. Another accomplishment for which I am very proud of is moving to Loudoun County from South Florida five years ago and uprooting my life and network and starting anew. In a short amount of time, I have built an incredible extended and local network which has helped me not only at work, but also in adjusting to the area. My aspirations are to continue to add new skills to my toolkit and to be known as a trusted banking professional in the Northern Virginia and DC area. ...
Additional Information:  I nominated my wife, Lindsey Saul, Ph.D., last year (2014) and she nominated me. They selected my wife (excellent decision!) and told me at the ceremony commended me on my application. Some members from the selection team encouraged me to apply again this year. So here I am applying again as recommended. I would consider it the biggest honor if selected for this award and would continue to share my love of Leesburg with others. Thank you for your consideration.

Community Involvement:  I am very involved in breast cancer charity organizations as not only a donor but also in helping to raise awareness. My mother was a 10 year breast cancer survivor until last year when her breast cancer metastasized into her brain. I am happy to report she is doing great. My cousin at 19 years old lost her battle with leukemia, and my Great Aunt is a survivor of pancreatic cancer, where only 6% survival rate, so I am always looking for ways to help with cancer foundations. Community Involvement:  I volunteered at the Good Shepherd Alliance in Ashburn for several years through my work at Hope's Treasures. Hope's Treasures is a huge source of revenue for the Good Shepherd Alliance, Inc. which provides emergency shelter for the homeless in Loudoun County. In addition, the store provides clothing and household items to homeless and needy individuals and families through voucher programs. Hope's Treasures has partnered with the local Red Cross and helped students in need from local schools through donation programs. Furthermore, I love helping people make meaningful and life-changing connections. I met a friendly lady at Brambleton Sport & Health in April and after speaking with her, I found that she was unemployed for the past few years. She had decades of experience in the banking and mortgage industry, so I helped connect her with the President of my LeadShare group who was successful in the industry. After several interviews, she told me that she landed the position and called me her "Fereshteh" which means Angel in Farsi, the Persian language.
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment is buying my first house at age 23. Ever since my teenage years, I saved up earnings from babysitting, birthdays, holidays, and part-time jobs. While pursuing my education at James Madison University, I worked anywhere from 2 to 3 part-time positions in conjunction with taking a full course load to reach my goal of paying off student loans fully within 5 years of graduating and saving up to purchase a house.
Additional Information:  Back in 2009, I graduated from Stone Bridge High School with a passion for music, playing both guitar and French horn. In May 2013, I graduated from the College of Business at James Madison University Magna Cum Laude with a concentration in Marketing. While pursuing my education, I worked anywhere from 2 to 3 part-time positions while taking a full course load to reach my goal of paying off student loans fully within 5 years of graduating. I developed my own blog while in school and built connections with students, professors, and parents as a Microsoft Brand Ambassador. After promoting Windows 8 and selling Dell Computers, I knew that I would enjoy a career in sales while utilizing social media to make connections. Through my career as a Payroll Sales Consultant with Paychex, I have been highly involved in the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce. I love building relationships with the small business community through local networking and social media outreach. I serve on the Ambassador Committee in the chamber and also like to attend YP events. Since January, I earned "Ambassador of the Month" twice because I helped onboard many of my clients as chamber members. I got married at River Creek Country Club in September 2014 and used many Loudoun County vendors and clients to support my wedding needs. I also bought my first home in Brambleton and live with my husband and two pets.

2006-2008-Sales Associate at Bass Shoes in Leesburg, VA
Community Involvement:  Whatever community I'm in, I serve through volunteering in whatever way I can. Below are my volunteer efforts.

Currently, I'm on the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy Annual Meeting Committee as a Co-chair, and will be working next month on the Risk Management Committee.
2014-Present-Volunteer Engagement Committee Chair, Board of Directors for Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy - which includes creating the infrastructure, policy, handbook, and opportunities for service to coincide with our incorporation as a non-profit

2007-Nutrition Assistant at Bridgewater Retirement Community
2002-2005- Color Guard Captain for the Loudoun County High School Raider Marching Band
Proudest Accomplishment:  I'm not much for personal fanfare, and though I will parade others' accomplishments shamelessly without a second thought, I am humbled by such requests to detail my own "accomplishments." What I can find pride in, is witnessing others' work towards a better community. If I've helped facilitate that work by bringing about an opportunity for others to serve(and shine), that's when I'm happy with my efforts- more of, if we all win, I win, too, situation. One such successful opportunity took place in January 2015 when I ran and coordinated a volunteer showcase that was attended by almost 100 folks looking for a way to serve Loudoun's wildlife via Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy. From that we've showcased the know-how of our community by making it accessible to others through our programs, talks, and workshops. It is an event that I will continue to host, at minimum, annually.
Additional Information:  Growing up in Leesburg, I received not only an education, but opportunities and encouragement to give back whatever I could whenever I could. This attitude stuck, and I have always tried to hold myself to maintain that higher standard. I realize that my actual paycheck-oriented work experience is, currently, nothing remarkable, but I believe one's full life is their testament to what they believe, their character, and their vision for the world. James Madison University's echo of Gandhi's advice to "be the change you wish to see in the world" continues to inspire me, and I intend to take what I've learned from both my full-time work as well as my volunteer experience and apply it to serve my community as a facilitator of volunteers looking to contribute to their vision of a better community.
Thank you for your consideration.

Work Experience:  I've worked in a variety of fields including event management, salon & spa management, dental office management, and now own my own business. My work in my current position focuses on the business and marketing aspect of what we do and not on teaching. I feel it's important to focus on what you're strong at and hire employees who are better than you at other activities. I haven't had a resume in years because I am determined to work for myself forever - something I always aspired to do after seeing my dad be an entrepreneur. I've taken valuable learning experiences from all of my previous positions regarding day to day tasks, managing people and customers, as well as learning what kind of employer I want to be. Good or bad, everything is work experience - even if it doesn't come from your own industry; it's all how you apply it! Up next, we're taking our business to the next level by licensing and franchising. It's always a learning experience and will definitely grow our skill set. As always, we're ready for the challenge!
Community Involvement:  Bella Ballerina loves being a part of the communities that we are in. There is so much going on in Loudoun county and we are always asked to be a part of charity functions in both contribution and performance opportunities for our kids. Annually we donate over $10,000 in dance scholarships and awards through our studio and outside charitable organizations. We've also founded our own non-profit organization that has already given over $6,000 in scholarships and will now focus on helping local families in need who are struggling with cancer. We founded this in memory of one of our own teachers who lost her battle with cancer earlier this year. We saw what an amazing life she had and what amazing people she left behind and knew this is what we wanted to do from hereon out. Those families will receive funds to use as they see fit - because every struggle is different and everyone's needs are not the same. We want to support them in some small way and yet hope we can make an impact on lots of families.
Proudest Accomplishment:  I love when we can get our entire team together and everyone is working collaboratively and loving what they do. It shows in their everyday work but I love being a part of something that feels so different that what I experienced in the past. Building a company culture that is different from the norm is what we're looking to do - there are so many people that I talk to that absolutely love their job but hate the company they work for because they don't value their employees. We truly believe and empower our employees and hope that they feel ownership of their work in return. We're small and do what we can, but as we grow, it's always important to really see who's work got you there!
Additional Information:  It's an honor to be nominated for 40 under 40 again! I think its fantastic to highlight those who are ambitious and really all around great people in the community. So many of the nominees and winners in the past are truly selfless people that go above and beyond to make their lives, their families lives, and their communities a better place. It's truly a team effort too - my guess is everyone who has accomplished enough to make this list would give a lot of credit to those around them. We can't wait to see what's next for our business and the growth in the area, not to mention what we can do to give back!

Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment as a LCPS teacher is in helping to initiate the STEM program at Liberty Elementary School in South Riding. Liberty Elementary is known as a "STEM School' in the area. Along with many other amazing educators, I have worked with teachers to change their approach to education. Together, we have moved from a test-driven, one-size-fits-all curriculum towards the inquiry-based and problem-solving model that best meets the needs of our students. It has been an honor to help my colleagues grow and develop instructional strategies that make such a strong impact on our students. The efficacy of this STEM program is evident in the way that our students are able to solve unique problems using complex thinking, while still developing the foundational skills necessary for academic success. The STEM program continues to evolve, as our team is implementing Project-Based-Learning (PBL) and One-To-The-World projects that align with the vision of LCPS. The skills that our students are learning are better preparing them for life beyond the classroom. I have been working with other schools to help them build their own STEM and PBL initiatives as well.

Additional Information:  Additionally, I have worked with some of these teachers pursuing National Board Certification as a Candidate Support Provider. I received amazing support from LCPS CSPs when I went through my own candidacy in 2009-2010. I immediately knew I wanted to pay it forward. In the summer of 2011, I went through the additional training necessary to become certified as a CSP. Intense mentorship and guidance has helped me to lead numerous educators towards this prestigious recognition on a national level. The teaching model put forth by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) has helped me and countless other teachers increase the impact on student learning. Helping other teachers improve their own teaching practices has made me realize the impact on learning I can make when I support classroom teachers.

I love working with children, but I know that I can improve their experience by working with their teachers. Whether through NBPTS candidate support, teacher mentorship, chairing the STEM committee, holding workshops, or serving as a team leader, I know I have helped to raise the bar.

Education:

Community Involvement:  I currently am on the board of the Loudoun Senior Interest Network. We are an organization that provide aid to seniors in the community. We are all in various positions in healthcare, finance, real estate and law. Several programs that we are in involved with are food drives with Loudoun Interfaith Relief, organizing senior healthy summits, and we have also donated to the local VFW. The VFW allows for us to meet monthly in their lodge. I have also organized a first responders luncheon to show appreciation to our local firefighters, policemen and EMTs.
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment thus far in life has been getting accepted into the nursing home administrator program by the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards. For almost two years I have been in the program and I will sit for the national exam in July. I have completed 1,502 training hours in the nursing home facility where I work which consists of spending time in various departments; dietary, human resources, nursing, social services, activities, business office, housekeeping and maintenance. I also took the certified nursing assistant class in order to gain an understanding of the floor staff who are the back bone of nursing homes. I have learned a great deal over the past two years and I feel that this program has challenged me to become fair and balanced. I am excited for the next step in my career and becoming a licensed nursing home administrator is an accomplishment that I can certainly be proud of because it involves caring for our greatest generation.

Community Involvement:  In my personal life, I've volunteered at my son's elementary school with PTO activities, classroom events, and field trips. My family participates in local charity race events, such at the Run Me Home 5K/10K benefiting Loudoun foster children. We've even adopted a dog from local rescue group, Friends of Homeless Animals!
Professionally, I spearhead many of my business's community outreach initiatives, including supply drives for the Loudoun County Animal Shelter and the Loudoun Interfaith Relief Pet Pantry, a fundraising event for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, and dissemination of educational materials for safe interactions between kids and pets. I use the business's online presence (website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, and more) to provide tips and information to improve the human-animal bond. I advocate for pet-family safety, pet-family fitness, and appropriate veterinary care. Pets are family members for a large swath of our community, and I hope to help make that relationship the best it can be for both the people and the companion animals.
I also use our online presence to bring pets and families together. I work with the Loudoun County Animal Shelter, Homeless Animals Rescue Team, and Friends of Homeless Animals to feature adoptable pets in search of their "fur-ever" homes. This, in fact, is how my family came to adopt our dog from Friends of Homeless Animals!
Proudest Accomplishment:  I am proudest of the semblance of "balance" I've been able to find as a working parent. My son is coming to the end of his kindergarten school year, and my daughter is just 3 years old. I've been able to volunteer at my son's school; keep up swim, basketball, taekwondo, and dance activities; and in general maintain the hectic family life while still developing my professional life. I've used my educational background and interest in English and communications to build a career that until recently did not even exist. I'm part of a new, vital role in the veterinary field, bridging the gap between medical science and quality of pet-family life via client relations and education. I've been afforded the opportunity to keep learning as well; I've recently completed a year-long certification program to become an Online Marketing Specialist.
A perfect balance is impossible to strike, but I am a professional and an involved mom, contributing to both my community and my family in so many ways. I believe this is one way to be a positive role model for my children, demonstrating personal development and fulfillment inside and outside the home. Showing my children that it's okay to be a busy, active, working parent who pursues several avenues toward happiness certainly makes me proud!

Community Involvement:  Loudoun County is the community I have been proud to call home for most of my life. I have a track record of community service beginning in Elementary school, which has continued today. I have spent holidays at assisted living communities singing songs, participated and organized roadside cleanups, and have even designed and built a trophy case for the choir department at my alma matter, Potomac Falls High School. I enjoy spending my free time advancing our community through sweat equity, and I’m always excited to discover what my next project will be.

As a current employee of Loudoun County Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS) community involvement has become my life. I eat, breathe, and sleep community. Working at the Sterling Community Center I have developed a number of programs that cater to community members of all ages. I have a strong affinity for developing youth programs that are not only fun, but also educational. I believe in educating tomorrow’s youth through well rounded programming that fuse both sciences and the arts. I believe in order to develop a future cohort of creative problem solvers, we as a community must invest in art, culture, humanities, as well as STEM.

Since being employed with Loudoun County PRCS, I have used my improvisational theatre background to develop an improvisational theatre training program through joint partnership between Loudoun County PRCS and Loudon County Public Schools. This self-sustained program allows for the kids involved to learn advanced ...
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment is much like my view of great theatre. It’s ephemeral, it’s fleeting. Mostly because they are not my accomplishments, but are the accomplishments of my students. At a young professional age I have been a founding member of an improv ensemble created to teach leadership development and social skills to youth in the New River Valley. Through arts education work-shopping, I taught a group of freshmen high school students, who were on the chopping block of being removed from public school due to aging out. I promoted the idea that education can be a fun and a worthwhile commitment, and the program saw great success. I’ve developed educational programs for the youth of Loudoun County, and been an advocate for diversity and inclusion programming. I’ve created and implemented a self-sustainable improvisational theatre education program in joint partnership with Loudoun County Public Schools and Loudoun County PRCS. I’ve directed one of the elite few high school improvisational theatre ensembles to perform at the Del Close Marathon, a highly selective improv festival, at Amy Poehler’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City. These same students have been selected to perform again this June, 2015.

Ultimately I feel most accomplished by the proven pragmatism of my craft, which is often thought to be something people do on stage solely for laughs. Yet time and time again, this assertion that improv is a lesser art form, or a simple hobby has been proven wrong. Improvisational theatre can be ...
Additional Information:  In the summer of 2012 I was bit by a deer tick, which I was fortunate to find still attached to my arm. I was treated prophylactically, but began suffering from swollen arthritic knees, fatigue, muscle twitching, and musculoskeletal pain nine months later. Having gone through a second round of treatment, I still suffer from some of these symptoms, but have been luckier than many who are battling this illness. At only 25 I have learned to endure daily pain and discomfort, and have had limitations placed on my abilities which I previously did not consider. This illness has helped me to become a more empathic and attentive individual.

One of the most rewarding elements of my position with Loudoun County PRCS is promoting Lyme awareness and prevention, which truly is the best way to combat Lyme disease. I hold a weekly “Tick Talk” during summer camp, teaching all of the kids who visit the center what ticks to look out for, what Lyme disease is, and areas where ticks are common.

Due to my experience, I feel a personal responsibility to be an advocate and voice for those who have Lyme and other “invisible illnesses.” I am for the people, whether it is to make them smile or laugh when I am on stage, or to provide educational and recreational programming at the Sterling Community Center.

Community Involvement:  It is my honor to serve as the Principal of Liberty Elementary School. The vision at Liberty is clear in our motto, “Preparing Active Learners.” Our teachers have moved from traditional lesson delivery to become creators of design briefs and guides to student discovery through our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) instruction. Liberty is truly preparing our students in developing 21st century and real-world skills.
As the instructional and organizational leader at Liberty Elementary, I make the vision clear to our staff, community and students. We will provide problem-based learning experiences that promote technology use, collaboration and critical thinking. We are seen by the Superintendent and our colleagues as a leader and staff developer in the field and routinely support our neighboring schools in bringing STEM to all students of Loudoun. Recently, we were asked to present at a county-wide STEM Day by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Board of Supervisors and Northern Virginia Community College on October 17, 2015. Our community knows that we value partnerships between teachers, businesses, and our families. In March, Liberty hosted our 5th annual STEMmerday, which is a community collaboration to transform the building into a hands-on discovery zone on a Saturday. To ensure all students have the opportunity to attend, we provided a bus, chaperones and food to at-risk students. Our attendance for the event was over 2000. This is a showcase for our school and is true ...
Proudest Accomplishment:  The most important person in any school is your child’s teacher. I am very proud to lead an incredibly talented staff at Liberty. As the Principal, my job is selecting of the best and brightest candidates in education and support each by providing powerful professional development to help them grow as instructors, advocates for children and leaders in STEM education.
Our staff is celebrated for their accomplishments. This year, we had two nominees for the Washington Post’s Agnes Meyer Teacher of the Year Award. Additionally, another teacher was recognized as Tech4Learning’s Educator for Technology Application in the Classroom. This week, I attended the Special Education Advisory Committee Ceremony as another teacher won the award for supporting students with disabilities.
Our school sees our own professional development as key in remaining on the forefront of instruction. We lead all LCPS Schools in teachers who have gained National Board Certification with 10% of our staff, and two additional teachers who are currently in the process. Many of our teachers hold post-graduate degrees in areas ranging from Administration to Technology Education to Initiatives in Educational Transformation. Recently, my teachers and I presented at the Children’s Engineering Convention, Association of Science Teachers Conference, and National Association of Elementary School Principals Conference. Additionally, I presented on multiple occasions to LCPS senior administration and principals on STEM education, teacher evaluation and more. My philosophy is that we share everything with ...
Additional Information:  Last summer, I worked with two teacher-leaders in creating STEMmerweek, which is offered to all of Loudoun as a STEM summer camp experience for rising 1st through 6th graders. Students from a dozen schools attended last summer. We offer full- and reduced-tuition scholarships for students so everyone has the opportunity to experience STEMmerweek. As some students were showing off their designs at the “Engineering Expo” on the camp’s last day in August of 2014, they were visited by Loudoun’s new Superintendent, Dr. Eric Williams. I explained at the Expo that to Dr. Williams, parents, and students that Liberty strongly believes in providing devices that allow our students an opportunity to use technology to fulfill Dr. Williams’s “One to the World” initiative. STEMmerweek proceeds directly benefited Liberty’s students in the purchase of one of the four new iPad carts in August. For our upcoming camp, we are using part of the money to create the “Rhonda Foley Liberty Alumni Scholarship.” Mrs. Foley, our kindergarten teacher, is currently battling cancer and is in hospice care as of today. We know she will be proud that Liberty is providing a $1000 scholarship in her name to a Liberty student now entering a STEM-related or education field in college.

My wife is a fourth grade teacher in Loudoun County our wonderful children participate go to Liberty with me but are in sports and activities near our home in Purcellville.

ASHBURN ICE HOUSE – Ashburn, Virginia 2001 - PRESENT
Figure Skating Coach

Community Involvement:  As my Directorship requires me to be available extensively seven days a week, I do not have many examples where I have been active in the community in terms of volunteering. My volunteer experience has been limited to supporting my daughter’s school and Girl Scout/Brownie events. I particularly enjoy remaining active in my daughter’s class room as I have the highest respect for teachers and know that a little extra support can make a lot of difference. If I broadly interpret this section of my submission, I would say my most meaningful contribution to the community has been through education. I have taught children in this county for 12 years; kids that were expelled by the county system, aspiring athletes, and children required to stay at home for a variety of personal and legal reasons. I love teaching and it brings me a great deal of joy when I think about the area’s young people that I have positively impacted.
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment is being a working Mom and role model for my 9 year old daughter. With the support of my husband, we have worked hard to develop a kind, caring, funny, and devoted daughter who is well rounded, culturally aware, and ready for what the future may hold. From a professional standpoint, my proudest accomplishment is building Team Ashburn into a program where young athletes can chase their dreams, learn discipline, teamwork, and compassion, and represent Loudoun County with class. We’ve brought the name “Ashburn, Virginia” to competitions around the country including Colorado, Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and Michigan. As a result of dedicated athletes, coaches, and supportive parents, people around the country think fondly of Team Ashburn and by extension Loudoun County, Virginia.
Additional Information:  I wanted to take a moment and mention how flattered I am to simply be nominated for Loudoun’s 40 under 40. This was unexpected and your email really brightened my day! As most (if not all) of your nominees believe, we do our work because we sincerely care about our community and it's people. All the best to you and your organization as you arrive at your selections. Please let me know if you require any additional information.

Community Involvement:  I have had the benefit of calling many different communities my home at various times in my life. Wherever it is that I’ve found myself, I’ve always made it a priority to immerse myself in the culture of the community. Prior to moving to Loudoun County, I began volunteering, first in college, then with the Peace Corps in West Africa, and Chicago, helping West African refugees learn English and navigate a very difficult cultural shift. Moving back to the Washington DC area, I continued to volunteer with organizations helping inner city youth improve their reading skills, and serving as a friend and mentor. When I moved to Loudoun County in 2008, I researched many organizations with which to volunteer. I joined the board of Loudoun Therapeutic Riding in 2012. It’s an incredible organization that benefits every aspect of our community. From the participants who are faced with any number of challenges, to the horses they care for and ride, and the friends, families, and volunteers that are also involved, everyone benefits. It is a beautifully symbiotic relationship between mankind and nature that shows how we all thrive when we work together.

As well as the community involvement listed above and my professional endeavors (all of which have been within the nonprofit community), I’m involved in the Loudoun County Chamber’s, Non-Profit Initiative, and the Middleburg Business & Professional Association. In my free time I support many other charities and local groups by attending various galas ...
Proudest Accomplishment:  I have lived my professional life with the understanding that every experience is an opportunity to learn, and grow, no matter how uncomfortable it might be at the time. It’s that ideology that has led me to take chances and seek opportunities to eventually reach the career goal that I set for myself in my mid-20s and accomplished in 2014 to be the Executive Director of a charity that makes a positive impact in the community.

My life’s purpose is to leave a positive imprint on the world. I am so pleased to have the opportunity to do that every day at the Middleburg Community Center. The people and populations that come through the Middleburg Community Center all do so with a positive spirit and desire to work together and positively impact the lives of children and adults, charities, local businesses, friends and families. It’s a powerful sense of fellowship, and I am honored more so than proud that I am able to be a part of expanding those efforts.

Community Involvement:  I've always been told that the mark of an educated woman is in what she gives back to her community.

My commitment to giving back began when I was the President of my high school's Service Club, extended through my college years when I volunteered at a runaway youth shelter, grew in my early adulthood when I served as the Co-Executive Director of StandUp for Kids (a nonprofit that works with with young runaways), and continues today with the High-Heeled Happy Hours (see résumé for info on this community event that benefits local charities).

Additionally, I have chaired and/or served on a number of steering committees for community and non-profit events, and I served as Director of Fundraising for the Lincoln Elementary PTO this school year.
Proudest Accomplishment:  At one point in my life, my proudest career accomplishment was working my way up the corporate ladder in the capital markets industry. With no background in finance or economics, I began my career as an Office Manager for a third party review firm. Through hard work and a willingness to wear multiple hats, I was promoted to positions held only by Ivy League graduates and MBAs (I'm neither)... and more importantly, historically held by men.

My career in financial services afforded me the ability to support two children as a single mother, but the 70 hour work weeks took their toll on my family. My true proudest accomplishment (outside of my children, of course) was having the strength to leave the banking world and focus on my family and on my passions: marketing, events, and charity.

Though the pay was far less substantial, the relationships I have built, the businesses I've helped grow and succeed, and the charities I've supported have made it all worth while.

Further, with the High-Heeled Happy Hours, I've achieved something that I could not in my former career: creating a organization and network that celebrates and inspires women.
Additional Information:  Thank you for taking the time to review my application. As you are most likely aware, I helped launch the 40 Under 40 awards and oversaw the application and selection process, as well as the sponsorship sales and event planning for the last two years in my role as Marketing and Events Manager for Northern Virginia Media Services.

I'm honored to be included in the applicants this year, and regardless of the outcome, look forward to a very successful event.

Thank you for serving on the selection committee!

Work Experience:  I am an American Board Certified Pediatric Dentist. After completing my dental education at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, I received specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC; where I continue to serve as a part-time clinical faculty.

Over the past 8 years of building my experience and expertise in Laser Dentistry, it has been an honor to receive the highly coveted Master Status and Advanced Proficiency Certification from the Academy of Laser Dentistry. I have authored many articles and provided lecture seminars for introducing and promoting the benefits of laser applications in dentistry to fellow dentists, pediatricians, lactation consultants and speech pathologists.

My passion for optimal Infant and Pediatric Oral Health, Laser Dentistry and Life Long Learning must be recognized by colleagues and peers. I often receive referrals regarding treatment for the patients with most complex needs including infants as young as 2 days old, who are struggling with challenges of nursing due to lip or tongue-tie issues, all the way to adults with special healthcare or behavioral needs.

Other details of my work experience are included in my CV (attached). Thank you!
Community Involvement:  Community and philanthropic activities are woven into the fabric of my professional life and dental practice. On Loudon County Public School dental screening day, I focus on prevention of dental cavities by providing dental home care kits and education to children along with screening them for presence of dental decay. When children are diagnosed with cavities, I collaborate with the school nurses to help establish a dental home. If a child requires urgent dental care and the families have the financial hurdles, we provide treatment as a pro bono service so that an emergency room visit due to dental pain or oral infection/swelling is prevented. Many of these children also receive services during our ‘Dentistry from the Heart’ event, dedicated to providing free dental care to children of low income families. At our last event we provided free dental care worth approximately $47,000 to children and teens from all across Loudoun County and beyond.

As a leader and an expert resource for infant and pediatric oral health, I am passionate about improving the quality of life and nutrition of newborns that are having a difficulty with nursing due to lip-tie and tongue-tie issues. I provide several free-of-cost educational seminars for fellow colleagues and healthcare providers in Loudoun/Fairfax County as well as nationally, regarding benefits, proper diagnosis and treatment considerations for infant laser frenectomy procedure. I strive to provide a safety net for parents of newborns who require much needed help to properly manage the basic survival instinct of ...
Proudest Accomplishment:  I take tremendous pride in my work ethic and growth over the years. I have had incredible opportunities and have gained from each experience while giving back to the community or organization. Whether it was as a student at the Honors Program at UGA, Study Abroad Scholarship to Oxford, as a chief resident during pediatric dentistry specialty training, Operation Smile team Volunteer during mission trips, as a faculty member at the Children’s hospital or as Pediatric Laser Dentist. I have worked hard to gain expertise and earn the reputation of providing excellent pediatric dentistry – someone that kids love and parents trust! The sense of accomplishment and confidence evident on children’s face as they give me a hug or a high five at the end of their pleasant dental visit is priceless…there are many proud moments and accomplishments to come.

Besides providing successful care for my patients, I am also proud of being a successful mentor, leader, trusted adviser and inspiration for my colleagues and peers. I am humbled by becoming the recipient of the highly coveted Masters status in Academy of Laser Dentistry and selected as a member of the council of clinical affairs for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Community Involvement:  Loudoun County has been my home for most of my life and I feel I am very involved in the community here. I grew up in western Loudoun and graduated from Loudoun Valley High School. I was a part of the LVHS state championship volleyball team in 2004 as well as a member of the national honor's society. I went away for college, but returned to Loudoun after receiving my Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Ever since college I have been a volunteer assistant volleyball coach at Loudoun Valley and coach volleyball camps for parks and rec at Douglass Community Center.
I attend Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg and have been very involved in the women’s ministry there as well as volunteering as a nurse for their middle school and high school summer camps. I participated in a short-term mission trip to Guatemala in 2011 with Cornerstone Chapel and plan to participate in another short-term mission trip to Honduras this fall.
The majority of my career life has centered around INOVA Loudoun Hospital. When I was in high school I was a student volunteer in the post-op recovery room and my first job while in college was as a nurses’ aid on the post-surgical unit at ILH. My first job as a nurse was on the post-surgical unit and after leaving INOVA Loudoun to get more women’s health experience, I ultimately made my way back there as a Labor and Delivery RN. After finishing ...
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest accomplishment would have to be my career journey. My goal in life has always been to be a Certified Nurse Midwife and if I had to pick my dream job it would have been working for Loudoun Community Midwives.
When I was getting ready to graduate from high school I knew that I wanted to try to find a college where I could play volleyball and go to nursing school. During that process I encountered several schools that said I could do one or the other, but not both. I was privileged to find Alderson-Broaddus College, which was a very small school that allowed me to do both volleyball and nursing. It was not an easy road but I managed to graduate from nursing school in four years and play NCAA Division II volleyball all four of those years.
After college I knew that I wanted to start the process of finding a graduate school to do my midwifery degree as soon as possible. After working as a nurse for a year I was accepted to Shenandoah University’s Midwifery program. The last year of Shenandoah’s program is a preceptorship with a certified nurse midwife in the community that you live in. I was privileged to be able to secure a Preceptorship with Paula Senner, CNM at Loudoun Community Midwives. After finishing the preceptorship and graduating from Shenandoah University with my Master’s in Nursing with a specialty of Midwifery ...
Additional Information:  Along with being involved in my church and coaching volleyball my hobbies include baking, cake decorating, crocheting, running, and biking. I enjoy running 5K’s and am participating in my first sprint triathlon later this month.

My husband and my family mean the world to me. My parents also grew up in Loudoun County and went to Loudoun Valley High School. I do not have children yet, but love watching my niece and nephew grow up.

Time Lived and/or Worked in Loudoun:  Moved to Round Hill (from Fairfax Co.) in 1985 at age 8. Lived and/or worked here since.

Work Experience:  I started working in Loudoun when I was in my early teens (early 1990's) at the Round Hill Mini Market. I would ride my bicycle there after school to sweep the floors and stock the shelves. When I received my driver's license at 16 I worked my way into Purcellville as a Busboy/Dishwasher at what was then called Fran's Place (now the Purcellville Restaurant) and then at Al's Pizza which is no longer there. In 2003, after school and marriage, I started a company in Purcellville called Gophers Delivery. I built that company up for a couple years but the population and technology I needed for sustained growth was not here yet so I began working at the local Allstate agency in 2004 and then full-time Allstate in 2005. I recently purchased the Allstate agency that I have worked at for the last nine years this past October 1st, 2014. I am now the local Allstate agent in Purcellville and plan to be here as an agency owner for decades to come.
Community Involvement:  Current member of the PBA. With my new roll as the local Allstate agent, my goal is to get this office up and running so that it can be a strong generator of sponsorships and charities in the area. I also have a 4 year old son, 2 year old daughter and a child due this December which I hope to be able to bring up in the local schools, activities and sports. I see Allstate sponsoring many youth leagues in the near future along with many hours of coaching on my end!
Proudest Accomplishment:  To be completely honest, I have not achieved it yet. Starting this Allstate agency in Purcellville is just the beginning of my lifelong accomplishment which is to leave a "Sengpiehl Family Legacy" in this town that my children and my seven siblings (and their children) can be proud of and carry on. Like Nichols Hardware and Browning Equipment, I would like Sengpiehl Insurance to be considered a pillar of the community in years to come through our community involvement and charitable work.
Additional Information:  I would like to thank whoever nominated me along with the committee for considering me. I have been to 17 different countries and all over the USA and I have found no place I could call home outside this area. If my accomplishments to date are not quite yet worthy of this honor, I hope to be able to prove myself in time for the 50 Under 50!! Take care - Jason P. Sengpiehl

There is nothing more important than teaching service to children- not just by example, but by their actual involvement. I continue to partner with this organization.
Proudest Accomplishment:  My Proudest Accomplishment includes my most recent accomplishment of earning the Title Mrs. DC America 2015. I am humbled and honored to have be able to present my professional, personal and community accomplishments in the pageant, which took place on March 14th in front of almost 300 guests. I am proud to be a wife, mother and business owner in our community. I have never participated in a pageant before, and I wasn't looking to participate in one. In fact, I had never heard of the Mrs. Pageant System. When the opportunity presented itself, I decided to go for it! At 38 years old and after 10 years of marriage, 3 children, a long career in pharmaceutical sales and a new and thriving business, I have never felt so confident in who I am and what I have to offer others. Through my business with Younique Cosmetics, I have been able to share a flexible entrepreneurship with women all across the United States and many right here in this area- and it has been uplifting and empowering for them and for myself. It has been with my experience in my business that has given me a lot of confidence in encouraging and inspiring other women to use their talents and skills to consider pursing a business of their own and/or to support other local women in business. I have taken this passion and have incorporated it into my platform with my role as Mrs. DC America' Empowerment for Women through ...

Community Involvement:  I have grown into a deeper involvement in the Middleburg community through my role as Librarian. I serve as the steward of many of the community's memories. As people bring us old cardboard boxes with books, photos, letters, diaries, and journals, I enjoy an intimate view of the community here: the passion with which people pursue equestrian activities is a lens for their lives. Here in Middleburg, that lens focuses our understanding of our community history. Our collections chronicle the sporting heritage of the region: steeplechase races, foxhunting, show jumping, horse shows. But in each sport are bound up the memories of the people who practice those sports. I'm honored to be the caretaker of those memories.
Proudest Accomplishment:  A man came to me for research help last fall. His wife had placed in junior hunter in a horse show in the early 1980s, and he was looking for something, anything, that mentioned the accomplishment. The details were very sparse, as this was all to be a Christmas surprise for his wife. It took a long time and lots of work to track down the record. In the end, we managed to find the listing in the Chronicle of the Horse. The husband was thrilled that we were able to help, and came back to thank me in person for the help. It's that kind of interaction that means so much to me in this job.

Community Involvement:  3 years ago, my family lived in Vienna, VA. On nights and weekends, we always drove to Loudoun County for a new adventure. Most of our outings were outdoors and even wild, but some were just scoping out live music or a new restaurant. Obviously, we were destined to move to Loudoun eventually. When we made the leap and chose Purcellville, I (Joel Johnson) quit my job in DC and started an organic farm right here in our town. I knew that providing clean, healthy food was the highest service I could provide a community, so I jumped in with both feet. Financially, the move was risky. I remember telling my wife one night, “Let’s burn the boats. Let’s cut off our only escape route.” I was referring to the nest egg we had built up for retirement/emergencies while working in the city. We had 2 babies, and were not sure if a chemical-free farm would be viable, but we were determined to find out.
Since then, we have met countless people at the Purcellville Farmers Markets and other community events who are not able to eat a conventional diet. Some have narrowly beat cancer or autoimmune disorders. Others have a food allergy. Some are committed to disease prevention. Many know what “big ag” does to animals and the environment. Everyone has a different reason for supporting our farm, but the synnergy has ...
Proudest Accomplishment:  My proudest achievement to date has been to bring together the people in my farming background (GMO mono-culture crop farmers) and the organic consumer community. Usually these 2 groups are on separate sides of the pasture, shaking their fists at one another. With surprising ease, I’ve brought the two groups of people together over – you guessed it – food. This has been an unexpected achievement for me, one that I never set out to accomplish. So it has been healing (to say the least) for people in both camps to hear the other side of the story. Sometimes, I’m the one relaying the facts, and other times, we sit down to a good home-grown and home-cooked meal together, and the good will just flows as the conversation develops.
Additional Information:  Additional Information: Our generation is changing the definition of “success.” Status symbols of the 90’s are still prevalent, but this “Under 40” crowd values ingenuity and resourceful grit above financial security, and this is a new trend. So the personalities who end up on Leesburg Today’s 40 Under 40 List is more than traditional applause, it’s inspiration for both younger generations and older. No matter who is chosen, the list is eye-opening and exciting in the opportunities that readers can internalize as potential for their own lives, and that’s why I love this yearly feature. Even if I’m not selected, I look forward to seeing the names and stories, because they can be a loose model for anyone – even my kids or myself.
